The Central Valley city, which produces many of the state's most interesting music, has begun to change, all because of a shift in the city's music scene. Home to some of its most popular attractions, it's one of California's largest cities, with a population of more than 1.5 million, the second largest in the country.

The Pops Picnic concert was held at the Spano Community Center on the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz. The concert itself and a benefit concert were held in conjunction with the San Francisco Bay Area Chamber Music Festival.
